The actor GHEORGHE RADU passed away

In memoriam

Gheorghe Radu

20 April 1920 - 23 June 2010

On his 90th year of life, the actor Gheorghe Radu passed away.

He graduaded from the Dramatic Art Conservatory in Iaand in 1940, as the favourite student of his professor, the great actress Agatha Bârsescu. Gheorghe Radu started his career at Iaand National Theatre. Later, he performed in Bucharest, at Victor Ion Popa’s Labor and Light Theatre, at the Comedy Theatre under the direction of Sică Alexandrescu, at the North Theatre in Satu-Mare, and the Turda State Theatre. Uninterruptedly, he performed for three decades at Cluj-Napoca National Theatre.

The more than 90 roles he was cast in were, mostly in comedies, but also in dramas, proved the huge love he had for theatre. He had loved his profession as a vocation. He valued his interpretations more than his own success. He would develop his art from one part to another, from one performance to another.

He was an authentic artist and a colleague, natural, unostentatious.

He will always have a place in the memory of the audience with his vivacious, witty interpretation of Ianke in Take, Ianke and Cadîr, in which he performed more than 650 times.

Our affective memory will remember with respect and affection.

May God rest his soul in peace!
