Closing of the 2010 / 2011 season
 

The 2010/2011 season of Cluj-Napoca National Theatre closed on 30 June 2011, with the performance CHIPS AND DALES by Ioan Peter.


During the 2010/2011 season, Cluj-Napoca National Theatre produced 14 new productions:

2 October 2010 - THE COSMONAUT’S LAST MESSAGE TO THE WOMAN HE ONCE LOVED IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION by David Greig, directed by: Radu Afrim

Cluj-Napoca National Theatre participated to the following festivals:

 

  • The Classic Theatre Festival at "Ioan Slavici" Theatre, Arad, with A MIDSUMMERS NIGHT DREAM by W. Shakespeare, 21 October 2010;
  • "Eurothalia" European Theatre Festival in Timişoara, with THE COSMONAUTS LAST MESSAGE TO THE WOMAN HE ONCE LOVED IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION by David Greig, 14 November 2010;
  • The Festival of Contemporary Dramaturgy, Braşov, with THE COSMONAUT’S LAST MESSAGE TO THE WOMAN HE ONCE LOVED IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION by David Greig, 21 November 2010.

The 2011/2012 season will open on 17 September 2011.
 

The productions to be opened are The ISLAND by Gellu Naum, concert-performance by Ada Milea, MACHIAVELLI by Robert Cohen directed by Răzvan Mureşan and a concert-performance with Ioan Bocşa and the "Icoane" Ensemble. On the occasion of the 100 years commemoration of I.L. Caragiale’s death, Cluj-Napoca National Theatre will open the productions of Caragiale’s plays MR. LEONIDA FACES THE REACTION directed by Laurian Oniga and CARNIVAL directed by Mona Marian.
 

During the 2011 / 2012 season Cluj-Napoca National Theatre will guest important international directors: Gábor Tompa, Roberto Bacci (director, manager of Fondazione Pontedera Teatro, Italia, and Artistic Manager of Fabbrica Europa Festival in Florence, Italy), Anna Stigsgaart (director, collaborator of Odin Theatre, Denmark, assistant of Eugenio Barba), Aysenil Samlioglu (director, manager of the Municipal Theatre in Istanbul, Turkey), Eli Simon (director, professor at Irvine University in California, USA).

 

The first event of the new season will be The International GELLU NAUM MEETINGS, which will take place in 7-9 October 2011 and will present three performances based on the Romanian writer’ texts, produced by Cluj-Napoca National Theatre: ZENOBIA, directed by Mona Marian, FLORENCE IS I (based on the play by Gellu Naum and Jules Perahim), directed by Alexandru Dabija and THE ISLAND, concert-performance by Ada Milea. The festival will be the guest of important theatre personalities from Romania and abroad: the creative of the productions to be presented, David Esrig, Beatrice Picon-Valin, Marina Vanci-Perahim, Michael Gurevitch, Marina Constantinescu, Simona Popescu, Ion Bogdan Lefter and many others.
