After the Bucharest success of the productions OUR CLASS and FLOOR COVERING, invited to the National Theatre Festival, the tours of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre will continue in November. Six productions of our theatre, OUR CLASS, DEATH AND REINCARNATION AS A COWBOY, THE ISLAND, ROMEO AND JULIET, EVERY TZARA HAS HIS DADA and SELFIE will go on tour this month, in the country (in Ploiești, Piatra-Neamț, Arad, Bucharest) and abroad (Rome).
The production OUR CLASS by Tadeusz Słobodzianek, directed by Bocsárdi László, which was awarded Best Production at the Uniter Gala 2016, will be performed on November 5, 6:00 p.m., at “Toma Caragiu“ Theatre in Ploiești, within the “Toma Caragiu“ Theatre Festival. The festival I Plead for you(ng) organized by the Youth Theatre Piatra-Neamț, will host two productions of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre. The production DEATH AND REINCARNATION AS A COWBOY by Rodrigo García, script and directing Andrei Măjeri, will be performed on November 10, at 5:00 p.m., in competition. The production was selected together with 17 other productions by the theatre critic Maria Zărnescu. The concert-production THE ISLAND, by Ada Milea based on Gellu Naum’s play, will be performed once within the same festival, on November 11, at 5:00 p.m., as a guest production. The production ROMEO AND JULIET by W. Shakespeare, director Tudor Lucanu, was selected to participate in the International Classical Theatre Festival, organized by “Ioan Slavici“ Classical Theatre in Arad. The performance will take place on November 16, at 7:00 p.m. The festival’s 22nd edition will take place November 12-20, and the productions have been selected by the theatre critic Maria Zărnescu. The production EVERY TZARA HAS HIS DADA (The Ghost of Elsinore), by Ion Pop, Ștefana and Ioan Pop-Curșeu, director Ștefana Pop-Curșeu, will be performed this month at Teatro Palladium in Rome, on November 22, 2016. The production has been invited to Rome by the Romanian Cultural Institute, the organizer of the project “100 years since the birth of the Avant-garde Movement Dada”, when, alongside prof. acad. Ion Pop, prof. Francesca Cantu, Francesco Guida and Mira Mocan, associate prof. habil. Ioan Pop-Curșeu will hold the conference “Dada inheritance in the ouvre of Benjamin Fondane“, and lect. dr. Ștefana Pop-Curșeu, the artistic manager of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, will speak about theatre inheritance, “From Dada Theatre to neo avant-garde theatre: Tzara, Adamov, Ionesco, Beckett“.
The production SELFIE, script and director Andreea Iacob, was, in its turn, selected and invited to participate in the “Dana Cenușă” Multiart Festival for inmates, hosted by Nottara Theatre in Bucharest. The production will take place on November 23, at 6:30 p.m. The production’s cast is comprised exclusively of inmates, and Cluj-Napoca National Theatre is the first Romanian theatre to have such a production included in its repertoire. This is the 8th edition of the Multiart Festival, which was created especially for theatre productions conceived with inmates in Romania’s penitentiaries. The festival is part of the FEST(IN) on the Boulevard International Theatre Festival, “Multi Art EXIT“ section, and will take place on November 23-24, 2016.
