ILLEGITIMATE

Produced by the Hungarian Theatre in Cluj

A disintegrated, confused family, lacking the presence of a mother, where each person struggles with their own prejudices and is right in their own way. It is a miniature image of the world we live in, of our blindness, and inevitable ignorance, due to the way we perceive things differently and in a deformed way, may we be ordinary people, or philosophers. We go through life wearing invisible goggles, blinkers or colored glasses, we only see what we want and it becomes convenient for us to only notice what we have learnt to see. We are turning around and around, in a circle, repetitively, and live parallel realities in our minds. Might we perchance have the opportunity to rise above? Perhaps unconditional love is the missing piece, as perhaps the lack of the mother is also very present within this family.

THE MIRACLE OF CLUJ

Produced by: Reactor de creație și experiment, Cluj-Napoca

Placing everything in the realm of possibility and miracle, the play talks about a pyramid scheme that took Romania by storm in the dawn of its democracy, in the early ‘90s. Gradually, the social and political structure that permitted this circuit to reach such great proportions becomes evident.

„The Miracle of Cluj" is a documentary theater show that builds a bigger picture of the social and political context in Romania which facilitated the spreading of pyramid schemes. The show is part of „Democracy exercices. Investigation of the recent history" project, implemented by Reactor de creație și experiment.

The performance will be presented during the International Meetings in Cluj, at REACTOR, on October 12, 2018, at 4 pm.

RAMBUKU

Produced by: "Mihai Eminescu" National Theatre in Timișoara

Lying at the intersection between words and silence, between movement and absolute stillness, there is always a love story. For love alone can bring hope, however distant salvation may appear. Rambuku by Jon Fosse, the most translated contemporary Norwegian playwright and one of the most performed European authors in recent years, is and intense and fascinating theatre production, a stage play about the human being as both effect and cause, as depositary and receiver of emotions - all emotions - and, most of all, about the way in which love is able to survive history, matter, life itself.

The performance will be presented during the International Meetings in Cluj, on the main stage of the National Theatre in Cluj, on October 12, 2018, at 9 pm.

Mr. Jourdain, an extremely rich bourgeois, can afford to buy almost anything in the world. Still, he feels he is missing something: he wants to rise above his middle-class condition and become a cultivated and refined person, just as he imagines members of high life as being. To this end, he opens up his wallet, and surrounds himself with masters who teach him music, dance, and philosophy, lessons meant to fill the real or imaginary knowledge gaps he believes he possesses. However, his masters are dilettantes who exploit his naivety and help themselves to his fortune.

Exasperated by his whims, his family and everyone around him end up joining forces to teach him a lesson. They set up a brilliant farce that the bourgeois gentleman takes as the reality that would fulfill his deepest desires to reach a higher social status. Do common sense and sound judgment have any chance in the face of blind ambition and unmerited desire for social climbing? The Bourgeois Gentleman is a funny story that entertains us even today, 350 years after its creation.

The performance will be presented during the International Meetings in Cluj, in the studio of the Hungarian Theatre in Cluj, on October 11, 2018, at 7 pm.
