The Awards of the Cluj-Napoca within the International Meetings in Cluj 2014
 

Initiated within the 4th edition of the festival The International Meetings in Cluj - The Paths of Freedom, the project THE AWARDS OF THE NATIONAL THEATRE was designed to reward the best artists and productions of the previous theatre season. We would like to thank all the partners and friends of our Theatre who managed to generously support this event, thus honoring the artistic performance and quality of the Cluj stage. 
  

The awards were handed during the Award ceremony gala, in the main hall of the National Theatre, which proved to be full, in the presence of the foreign guests (renowned artists, directors and organizers of international theatre festivals), of the Romanian guests (great artistic personalities, theatre managers, critics and theatre directors), of the local and national authority representatives and of the sponsors and partners and 900 spectators. 


The "Aureliu Manea" Award for best director, at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, in the 2013-2014 theatre season, was given to Mr. ALEXANDRU DABIJA - for the production Sânziana and Pepelea by Vasile Alecsandri.

The award was offered by Mrs. Viorica Samson Manea.

Mrs. Viorica Samson Manea, philanthropist, a consistent and enthusiast supporter of young artists, is the sister of the beloved director Aureliu Manea, a legend of Romanian directing. Aureliu Manea, a visionary of his generation has his name inscribed his name with honor in the annals of Romanian Theatre. The joint efforts of the Turda Local Council, of Mrs. Narcisa Pintea, manager of the Turda Municipal Theatre and of Mrs Viorica Samson Manea, resulted in the Turda Municipal Theatre being called today The "Aureliu Manea" Theatre.

 
 

The "Mona Marian" Award for experiment and innovation at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, in the 2013-2014 theatre season, was given to Mr. RĂZVAN MUREȘAN - for the production The Spectator sentenced to death by Matei Vişniec

The award was offered by professor Ileana Orlich (Arizona State University).

 Mona Marian's theatre works were especially successful in the USA, at the Arizona State University, were the following productions of the talented director were presented: The woman's body as a battlefield, Hiring a Clown, Memo, fragments from Travesties and, last but not least, The History of Communism Explained to the Mentally Ill, a production which premiered in Arizona. Throughout a twelve-year collaboration, starting with 2001, Mona Marian was admired by both the American and Romanian diaspora public, professors, students and theatre aficionados like Anthony and Ileana Orlich.

This theatre creation award is offered posthumously by Anthony Orlich, mall developer and the administrator of the Arizona State Land Department, a man who especially admired Mona Marian and was honored to be her friend over the 12 years of wonderful collaboration between Mona Marian and Arizona State University.

 

 

The "Estera Biro" Award for stage techinicians, pentru tehnicieni de scenă, at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, in the 2013-2014 theatre season, was given to Mr. JENEL MOLDOVAN - light designer, IOAN NEGREA - stage technician, GIOVANNI MATEESCU -stage technician.

The award was offered by the Company Jolly and the Conexio Association represented by Mrs. Maia Banciu.

  

The Conexio Association is the association of the friends of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, a non-profit organization established 4 years ago. Conexio supports the activity of the Theatre through fundraisings, creating bridges between the Cluj stage, the business world and the local community. Conexio's main project is connected to the International Meetings in Cluj ever since the first edition. Mrs. Maia Banciu is our friend, she loves the theatre and thus continues her long experience in promoting cultural and civic initiatives meant to reward the active involvement of community members in increasing the reputation of local brands 



The Award for best actor in a leading role
, at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, in the 2013-2014 theatre season, was given to Mr. CORNEL RĂILEANU - in the production A Hell of a Mess!, by Eugene Ionesco, director Silviu Purcărete.

The award was offered by Rotary Club Cluj-Napoca Samvs and given by professor Alexandru Marcu, president of Rotary Club Cluj-Napoca Samvs

  Rotary is a world organization of businessmen and various specialists which are actively involved in their communities thus enriching their personal and professional lives. Rotary offers humanitarian assistance, promotes the highest ethical standards in every professional activity and contributes to installing a climate of good will and peace throughout the world. The projects of the Rotary SAMVS club have always been connected with education, culture, health, excellency and strengthening the community spirit. The purpose of Rotary is to encourage and cultivate the ideal "To serve beyond the self".

„For everything we think, say or do we respect the criterion of the four questions:

Is it in accordance with reality?

Is it loyal to both sides?

Is it able to stimulate reciprocal trust and create the best friendly relations?

Is it profitable for everybody?"



The Award for best actor in a supporting role,
at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, in the 2013-2014 theatre season, was given to Mr. RADU LĂRGEANU - for the role "Papură Vodă" in Sânziana and Pepelea by Vasile Alecsandri, director Alexandru Dabija.

The award was offered by Aegon Romania and handed by Mrs. Adela Marchiş, Marketing and Communications Manager.

The Award for best actress in a leading role,
at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, in the 2013-2014 theatre season, was given to Mrs. ANCA HANU - for the roles "Sânziana" in Sânziana and Pepelea by Vasile Alecsandri, director Alexandru Dabija and "Amalia" in Amalia takes a deep breath, by Alina Nelega, director Tudor Lucanu.

The award was offered and handed by Mr. Ferenz Koos, owner of the company Jolly

The Award for best actress in a supporting role,
at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, in the 2013-2014 theatre season, was given to Mrs. ROMINA MEREI - for the role "the doorkeeper" in A Hell of a Mess! by Eugene Ionesco, director Silviu Purcărete and "the bride" in Aureliu Manea Trilogy, by Aureliu Manea, director Tompa Gábor.

The award was offered by AFA CLUJ and handed by Mrs. Edit Todoran - vice-president AFA, fundraising coordinator, general manager of Commodo.

The Business Women Association of Cluj (AFA) is one of the strongest women associations in Romania, women who own or are in charge of a business and which are preoccupied with increasing the quality of life in the community. This year, AFA celebrates 10 years of activity and continues to implement important projects in different fields: culture, business, education, social. At the same time, the Association supports and encourages Excellency through all of its means and in all the fields. 

 


The Award of the audience, voted by the spectators of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre was given to the production
SÂNZIANA AND PEPELEA by Vasile Alecsandri, director Alexandru Dabija.
