Cluj-Napoca National Theatre organized on Saturday 13 December 2014, from 06.00 pm, to 01.00 am, the third edition ofDoors Open Night.
Doors Open Night is a free event and took place in the Main Hall, "Art Club" Studio, as well as the foyers of the theatre. Almost 5.000 people joined this succesful edition of the event.
Starting with 06:00 pm, in the two second floor foyers, a THEATRE MAKEUP WORKSHOP led by the actress Melania Ursu took place (until 08:00 pm), as a well as a MASK WORKSOP with Cristian Rusu and Tudor Lucanu (until 09:00 pm), during which visitors were invited to witness the demonstrations and participate in applying makeup and making masks.
In the "Art Club" Studio, from 07:00 pm to 09:00 pm, there was an ANIMATION WORKSHOP led by Paul Mureşan, creator of numerous poster for theater and other events of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre (they will be exhibited in the Studio) and winner, in 2014, of two important awards: Award for Best Animation Film at the Stone Film Festival and the Award for best Romanian Film at the Anim’est Festival. At the beginning of the workshop, a series of animations made by Paul Mureşan were presented and the audience had the opportunity to witness the making of a 2D animation. Participants also had the opportunity to get actively involved in creating an animation.
Within this event, we also offered a unique Movement workshop, IN SEARCH OF THE EXPRESSIVE BODY, led by the actress Sânziana Tarţa, and her guest, Szabó Jószef (cello). The workshop took place before the beginning of the event and, at 06.30 pm, the participants made a demonstration on the main stage. The workshop was open to the audience, with 20 positions available.
The Main Stage events thus started at 06.30 pm with a demonstration of the IN SEARCH OF THE EXPRESSIVE BODY workshop participants and continued at 07.00 pm with an inter-war music recital, I LOVE THE WOMAN, of the actor Ruslan Bârlea, accompanied on the piano by Lucian Duşa. At 07:30 pm the MAKING-OF of the performance A HELL OF A MESS! by Eugène Ionesco was projected, a film by Mihai Chirilă (camera) and Rodi Cotenescu (editing). The film presents a part of Silviu Purcărete’s artistic universe, as he works for the first time with the Cluj company. It is an introduction to his entire creative process, an insight into the director’s specific approach, which is like assembling a puzzle. From 08.00 pm to 09.30 pm the audience was invited you to a QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS SESSION with the actors Cornel Răileanu, Cătălin Herlo, Anca Hanu, Romina Merei from the Cluj Napoca National Theatre. The meeting with the actors started with a discussion about their collaboration with the director Silviu Purcărete and making the performance A HELL OF A MESS!, and the spectators had the opportunity to ask them questions. At 10.00 pm we invited you to a concert entitled CONCERT WITH PIECES OF CONCERTS led by Ada Milea, Bobo Burlăcianu, Anca Hanu and Cristian Rigman. You will have the chance to listen to various musical pieces composed by Ada Milea for theatre performances. The events continued in a musical ambiance at 11.00 pm with a CONCERT by Maria Răducanu, present for the first time on the stage of the Cluj-Napoca Theatre. The closing event of the evening consisted in the by now traditional Stand-up comedy moment with Dragoş Pop. This year’s performance, THE PLUMBER, took place from midnight to 01:00 am.
Throughout the event, the ground floor of the theatre hosted the fashion exhibit FASHION EXPO - ENTER THE VOID by Ovidiu Pop, graduate of the Art and Design University of Cluj, of the French Fashion Institute of Paris and member of the Plastic Artists Union. "The collection is a result of my various preoccupations in the artistic field. It expresses my belief that the designer is a complete and complex artist who can synthetize and accomplish artistic experiences from various artistic fields, which may seem different but, in fact, are interconnected, like painting and fashion design" (Ovidiu Pop). Also at the ground floor, there was the exhibition and sale coordinated by the Derzelas Association, CHRISTMAS FAIR, with objects designed by disabled children, and a small fair of HAND-MADE JEWELERY. In the second floor foyer, CARICATURI LA CORNET made caricatures on request. In the top floor foyer of the theatre the audience could relax at the DOAMNA T café, our traditional partners, to enjoy together the Doors Open Night event at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre.
