Ҫağlar Yiğitoğulları's fascination with the eternity of human nature, addressed since ancient times in the great Eastern texts, is now poured into a ritualic exploration of mourning and the consciousness of our own mortality, inspired by the Mesopotamian text The Epic of Gilgamesh. In this reinterpretation, the hero's journey of initiation is connected, not only with the ambition of his own immortality, but especially with the need of filling the emptiness left by his friend's death, whom he hopes to bring back to life. Thus, in a performance where the musical and visual worlds amplify the poetical and philosophical discourse, Gilgamesh's peace with his own destiny becomes the synthetic expression of the eternal human fight against death and against the irreversible loses that precede it. However, death doesn't destroy life here, but completes it symbiotically, as the only benchmark capable of giving it purpose.

“In my rewriting and retelling story of the Gilgamesh epic, it ends with a quest. The quest of seeking the way to make Enkidu immortal. Obviously Gilgamesh succeeded in that today we still tell the story of them. So, Gilgamesh was happy. In memoriam the great loss Christian Bohr. ” Ҫağlar Yiğitoğulları
