Cluj-Napoca National Theatre invites you again to its performances! The 2015/2016 theatre seasons will start on August 30 with an innovative premiere, the concert-performance GOD'S PLAYGROUND, created and performed by Ada Milea and Alexander Bălănescu.



Cluj-Napoca National Theatre will participate in the National Theatre Festival in Bucharest (FNT) 2015 with four productions:  Apolodor based on Gellu Naum, concert-performance by Ada Milea; The Emigrants by Sławomir Mrożek, director Tudor Lucanu; Mein Kampf by George Tabori, director Alexandru Dabija; UbuSlammer!, adaptation by Gábor Tompa based on "Ubu in Chains" and other texts by Alfred Jarry, director Gábor Tompa.


The official selection of the performances has been announced today by the critic Marina Constantinescu,  artistic director and the selector of the festival.


This is the 25th edition of the National Theatre Festival and it will take place between 23 October - 1 November 2015 in Bucharest. The event is organized by UNITER, the Ministry of Culture, Bucharest City Hall and ARCUB.

Cluj-Napoca National Theatre will close its 2014/2015 season after the presentation of the performance The Cherry Orchard and The Spectator Sentenced to Death within the International Theatre Festival in Almada, Portugal, 4-18 July 2015.
 

In this season the theatre hosted 12 premieres, three major annual events (Doors Open Day,  Cluj International Meetings and Doors Open Night), it had 166 representations and  65.037 spectators.  
 

The number of travels increased this season and our productions have been presented within important national and international festivals: The National Theatre Festival in Bucharest, The International Classical Theatre Festival in Arad, The Festival of Contemporary Drama in Brașov, The Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin, FEST-FDR 2015 Timişoara, Caracal Theatre Festival, The international Theatre Festival in Sibiu, The Festival of Romanian Comedy - festCo  2015 and CLUJ NEVER SLEEPS, strategic program of Cluj-Napoca 2015 - European Youth Capital. 
 

The 2014/2015 theatre season brought our theatre an impressive number of prizes and distinctions. We are honored to have received the Royal Decoration "Nihil Sine Deo", offered by His Majesty King Mihai I of Romania, and the CERTIFICATE OF DE EXCELENCE offered by the most important tourist recommendation site, TRIPADVISOR. This season brought actress Anca Hanu two important awards for the role of Amalia in Amalia takes a deep breath by Alina Nelega (Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role offered by UNITER and the award for Best Actress at the Short Theatre Festival in Oradea.


We would like to mention that form 1 July to 25 August 2015, the theatre’s ticket agency will be closed.

Cluj-Napoca National Theatre has been invited to participate with two productions at the International Theatre Festival in Almada, organized by the "Joaquim Benite" Municipal Theatre from Almada, Portugal. The productions that will participate are The Cherry Orchard by A. P. Chekhov, director Roberto Bacci, and The Spectator Sentenced to Death by Matei Vişniec, director Răzvan Mureşan.

 

The 32nd edition of the festival will take place from 4 to 18 July 2015. This year, the selection comprises productions from numerous countries such as Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Mexico, Italy, France, Brazil, representing an opportunity to see some of the best performances from Portugal and the world. The list of the directors behind these productions is also impressive, with such names as Christoph Marthaler, Peter Stein, Luis Miguel Cintra, Katie Mitchell or Matthias Langhoff. The festival will take place both in Almada and in Lisbon, and, aside from the performances, the event will also host debates, exhibitions, concerts, street performances and numerous other activities. The Cherry Orchard will be presented on 12 July, 6 pm, at the Trinidade Theatre in Lisbon, and The Spectator Sentenced to Death will be presented on 13 July (9.30 pm), 14 July (4 pm) and 15 July (9.30 pm) at the "Joaquim Benite" Municipal Theatre from Almada, Experimental Hall.
