Before the start of a new season in theatres all around the country, theatre refreshes itself on the Black Sea shore, between the Danube Delta and Costinești. Two events centered on performance art and theatre pedagogy are taking place at the beginning of this autumn, engaging members of the National Theatre of Cluj-Napoca: Theatre Meetings in Sulina (August 31-September 4) and The Young Actors Gala of Costinești (September 4-7 ).

We are preparing for a little theatre marathon in sunny Portugal!

The National Theatre of Cluj-Napoca will participate at the International Theatre Festival of Almada, Portugal, with the performance RICHARD III IS FORBIDDEN! by Matei Vişniec, directed by Răzvan Mureşan. The performance will have three presentations during July 11-13, 2017.

The National Theatre of Cluj-Napoca participates for the second time at the Theatre Festival of Almada, after the summer of 2015's edition, when it was invited to present the performances of THE CHERRY ORCHARD by A.P. Cehov, directed by Roberto Bacci and THE SPECTATOR SENTENCED TO DEATH by Matei Vişniec, directed by Răzvan Mureşan.

With a diverse selection including 26 productions from countries like Portugal, France, Israel, Argentine, Switzerland, Spain and Romania, the 34th edition of the International Festival of Almada is taking place during July 4-18, 2017, marking the most important event of this type in Portugal.

The fact that our performance was selected for the festival is an honor and makes us eager to meet again the Portuguese public.

We are happy to announce that two of the performances of the National Theatre of Cluj which premiered during the 2016-2017 season will participate at the National Theatre Festival (NTF): PLAYLIST by C.C. Buricea-Mlinarcic, directed by Tudor Lucanu, and THE TRIAL, after Franz Kafka, directed by Mihaela Panainte.
The official selection was announced on July 5 by the artistic director and curator of the 2017 NTF, theatre critic Marina Constantinescu.

The 27th  edition of the National Theatre Festival will take place in Bucharest during October 20 - 30, 2017.

Fourteen years ago, also on a Sturday, it was the opening of this tribute-performance, marking the declaration of love of the actor Anton Tauf for the poet Nichita Stănescu, passed away at fifty in a December 13. The fact that the actor knew personally the poet gives this poem-performance a special address. While teaching acting, the professor encouraged the young to recite. This impulse led to a class performance of which Marinela Țepuș wrote at the time: "Knots and signs is the title of a book by Nichita Stănescu. A title «materialized» inside a black cube by Ist year acting students of the Faculty of Letters of Cluj. The students were the knots, while the signs came from Nichita. Of course, through the love and generosity of their professor, actor Anton Tauf. So that we could never know if the «happening» I'm referring to can be called performance, recital or more simply and true: «Endless moment from a Nichita universe»". The actor has been bringing the poet to life ever since, persuading us every time that Nichita did not die in December.

We recorded and selected some of Anton Tauf's thoughts about his work on the performance Can't you see that you are standing in my lap, blind man?, in which he's joined by Ramona Dumitrean and Romina Merei.
