Cluj-Napoca National Theatre organizes the 5th edition of its annual festival INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS IN CLUJ, the purpose of which is to promote international dialogue through theatre, to initiate and establish cultural collaborations in a national and international context. This year's edition will take place from 6-11 October 2015.

Numerous international theatre festival directors will be attending, from countries such as Italy, Portugal, Spain, Israel, Germany and Turkey. Together with them, important representatives of Romanian culture will participate at this edition's performances and debates.

The audiences can see productions from Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, "Radu Stanca" National Theatre in Sibiu, The Hungarian State Theatre in Cluj and "Aureliu Manea" Theatre in Turda.

The 5th edition of the INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS IN CLUJ, entitled Our Europe, opens the Cluj theatre to the great questions concerning the common socio-cultural heritage of today's European countries, through the constructive confrontations of young actors and directors with the generation of experienced Romanian artists. Trying constantly to redefine itself in the 20th and 21st centuries, the art of theatre has always mirrored Europe's identity problems, as well as the latent answers of the quotidian multiculturalism.

Therefore, this year's festival invites you to celebrate the young spirit and discover the artistic diversity under the sign of our common Europe.

Matei Rotaru received the Award for best actor for his role in THE EMIGRANTS by Slawomir Mrožek, and Tudor Lucanu received the Award for best director, for the same production of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre but also for the production YOU ARE AN ANIMAL, VISKOVITZ! from the "Anton Pann" Theatre in Rîmnicu Vâlcea.

THE EMIGRANTS by Sławomir Mrożek – at the Short Theatre Festival in Oradea; APOLODOR based on Gellu Naum – at the International Theatre for the Young Festival in Iași

The production THE EMIGRANTS by Sławomir Mrożek, director Tudor Lucanu will participate at the 2015 edition of the Short Theatre Festival in Oradea, in the competition. FITO 2015 aims to become a platform for promoting national and international theatre productions, as well as Romanian plays, facilitating partnerships and the interest of audiences in the art of theatre.

The world never stood still. It would be illusory to believe that migrations belong to ancient history and that today the continuous flux of emigration and immigration does not deeply affect the psyche of the contemporary individual. On the contrary, today more than ever, people are forced to other countries by poverty and the hope of a better life. Nowadays, after the harsh experience of totalitarian regimes, to emigrate means to follow your dreams, to gain your freedom, to get even. However, the western dream often turns to suffering, even when the gains seem greater than the losses. How does one pay for leaving his/her homeland? Is freedom still the absolute antonym of slavery? Deeply human, Mrożek's characters are disturbingly honest. Is exile worth it? As long as you risk finding yourself... (Ștefana Pop-Curșeu)

The performance THE EMIGRANTS by Sławomir Mrożek will take place 24 September, 8:00 p.m., at the Arcadia Hall in Oradea.

The production APOLODOR based on Gellu Naum, concert-performance by Ada Milea, will be presented as a prologue to the International Theatre for the Young Festival in Iași. FITPT is the only festival in Romania with this identity and its high aesthetic quality, ever since the first edition, brought it the prestigious title "European Festival" attributed by the European Festival Association. FITPT is a member of the EFFE platform, a network of top festivals with representatives from 31 European countries.

Apolodor is an aesthetic tonic, a cocktail of imaginative force, emotion and energy. Of premium quality. As the Book that inspired it, the production of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre is, under the pretence of playful joyousness and suave humor, a way of looking carefully at the world around us, in an attempt to understand it better. Already, "I miss, I miss, I misss" a show with Apolodor! (Oltița Cîntec)

The performance APOLODOR will take place on 25 September, 7:00 p.m., at the "Luceafărul" Theatre in Iași.
