The first festival dedicated to Cluj theatre is organized by Cluj-Napoca National Theatre and will take place between 27-29 November 2012 with the support of Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Local Council, in partnership with JAD Cultural Association.
The Festival of Cluj Playwriting will present five productions based on texts written by playwrights from Cluj and a round table, organized in partnership with the Writers’ Union of Romania - Cluj Section.
The festival aims to promote the playwriting in Cluj on a local, national and international scale and to culturally diversify the city in the perspective of Cluj-European Capital of Culture 2021.
The main objectives of the project are bringing the audience closer to the playwriting in Cluj, promoting the Cluj playwrights, promoting 100% Cluj theatre productions, diversifying Cluj-Napoca National Theatre’s list of events, promoting Cluj-Napoca National Theatre’s image and the local values.
The Cluj-Napoca National Theatre’s productions to be presented during the event are: Hell’s Cabaret by Flavius Lucăcel, directed by Sorin Misirianţu, The Way to the Indies by Ovidiu Pecican and Alexandru Pecican, directed by László Vadas, Our Brave Micşa! by Radu Ţuculescu, directed by Tudor Lucanu, My Wife, Shakespeare by Cornel Udrea, directed by Tudor Lucanu and The Gate by András Hatházi, directed by Tudor Lucanu.
